Introducing St John’s University

Most of my clients here in the Houston area have likely not heard of St John’s University, so it is up to me to make sure they don’t miss out on a university that has a lot to offer the right student. Of course, there is not enough space here to give an exhaustive list of all the excellent programs offered at St Johns, they offer more than 100 majors, but they have 11 academic centers created to enhance the academic experience range from Bankruptcy studies to the Brown Center for Civil Rights. If the academic focus is law, St Johns should definitely be on the college list. The Combined Law program allows incoming freshmen to be accepted into law school as long as the student takes care of business in their academic studies.

St Johns is a Common Application school and there is no application fee. Considering its name, no one will be surprised to learn that it is a Catholic school that believes strongly in volunteering and community service. There is a Social Justice Scholarship available for service-minded applicants as well as international volunteering opportunities. If the applicant is a graduate of a Catholic high school, they are automatically awarded a $2500 per year scholarship upon acceptance. Also, scholarships are awarded at the time of acceptance to the university. These are just a couple of the scholarship opportunities offered by St. John’s, for which you may qualify.

St Johns was founded in 1870 and there are six other campuses and locations in addition to the University’s main campus in Queens, New York. You’re certainly getting the best of both worlds, as its location is positioned in a gated, residential neighborhood, and is also located only miles away from Manhattan!

In addition to having an outstanding law school, St John’s has one of the top ranked business schools in the country, and is one of the top producers of minorities degreed in the areas of Allied Health Diagnostic, Intervention, and Treatment Professions.

The university has more than 21,000 degree-seeking students and about 310 of them participate in athletics alongside their academic pursuits. St Johns supports 17 Division 1 athletic teams and competes in the Big East Conference.

If you are looking for more than strong academics, Clinics, Centers, Institutions and athletics; get involved in the honors program and participate in one of the many study abroad opportunities. You will never be at a loss to find something to do that is both engaging and enlightening while studying in one of the biggest cities and at the largest Catholic university in the in the country.
